SYNOPSIS

Cooks on Fire is a homegrown cooking competition to find New Zealand’s best barbecue team. The competition returns for the second season with six teams of two from all around New Zealand competing for $30,000 in prize money. Host Ganesh Raj oversees the action with assistance from pitmaster Jared Macdonald and new judge; internationally renowned live fire expert, author and meat scientist Jess Pryles. This year we’re turning up the heat with a series of epic challenges on a variety of grills – whether it’s whipping up Texas BBQ Trays low ‘n slow on 500-gallon offset smokers, sizzling steaks on classic Kiwi kettles, or cooking a whole lamb Asado style over live fire. Guest judges include Gareth Stewart, Tom Hishon and the legendary Al Brown.
